This week we read and wrote stories using three of the words: Noble, Center, Apology, Mosque. Our theme was Regret!

Next week we will be our 100th episode of DTWT!!!!!! So we're going back to the basics. Pick the oldest story you wrote for DTWT and give it an Edit! Let's see how much we've improved over the last two years! And don't forget to use the words: Muggy, Discovery, Promote, & Channel.

Our challenge this week was to do the Edit thing! Take an old story, DTWT or not, and give it a good ol' edit. Ideally, start with a blank page and rewrite your entire story. This forces you to really evaluate each sentence and make sure everything sounds exactly how it should.

Our extra challenge is to practice Tracing. The idea here is to "trace" the prose of an author you admire so that you can learn from or even replicate that author's style. Find a particular section of prose you particularly enjoy from an author you want to learn from, and copy that section down, word for word. Doing so by hand is ideal, but typing it can be useful as well. Aim to at least copy down a page or two, but more is better. - After doing so, try to replicate that writing style! Write a story as close to that author's voice as you can, or perhaps pick up the story from where you stopped copying. See how you can write that next scene in your own words, but in that author's voice.

We read "The Terrible Old Man" by H.P. Lovecraft. to lead into next weeks topic, Supernatural Undertones, basically take any mundane day to day trope (Visiting Grandparents, Losing Socks, Filing Taxes, etc.) and add a supernatural layer to the story that focuses on telling a story beyond its supernatural elements.
